Es Trenc by Boat: Mallorca’s Caribbean Beach from the Water

Es Trenc is the beach people picture when they say Mallorca looks like the Caribbean: kilometres of white sand, shallow water in every shade of turquoise and dunes instead of hotels. It is part of a natural park on the south coast — and by far the nicest way to get there is by boat.

Why go by boat

• No traffic, no parking — in summer the car parks fill up early.
• Your own space — anchor off the beach and swim in, instead of squeezing between towels.
• Shade and cold drinks on board all day.
• Stops on the way along the south-east of the Bay of Palma and past Cap Blanc.

How long does it take?

Es Trenc is one of the longer routes from Palma. It is a full-day trip, best done on a fast, comfortable yacht like Cienfuegos, with a relaxed morning crossing and a long afternoon at anchor.

Anchoring and nature rules

Because Es Trenc is a protected area, the seagrass meadows offshore are strictly protected and anchoring is only allowed on sand. Your captain will choose a legal spot with the best shelter for the day’s wind. Please take all rubbish back on board — there are no bins on the dunes.

Best months

June and September bring warm, calm water with fewer boats. In July and August it is gorgeous but busy — start early. Es Trenc is exposed to southerly winds, so your captain may suggest an alternative on windy days.

What it costs

Example on Cienfuegos in high season: full day €2,200 + fixed Es Trenc fuel surcharge €800 = €3,000 for up to 11 guests — around €275 per person with a full group. Add tapas and drinks packages (€25 per person each), since there is little to buy on the beach.
