The Best Time for a Boat Trip in Mallorca, Month by Month

Mallorca’s boating season is long. Our high season runs from April to October, but each month feels different on the water. Here is what to expect — the numbers are typical values, the sea never reads the calendar exactly.

April and May: fresh and quiet

Green hills, empty coves and clear air. The water is still cool — around 16–19 °C — so swimming is for the brave, but it’s a lovely time for a cruise to Port d’Andratx or a sunset trip. High-season rates already apply from April.

June: the sweet spot begins

Long days, water warming to around 21–23 °C, calm mornings and fewer boats than in August. Great for longer routes like Dragonera or Cabrera.

July and August: peak summer

Warmest water (often 25 °C or more), busiest coves and most demand. Book early, especially for weekends. A sea breeze usually builds over the Bay of Palma in the afternoon, so captains like to start a little earlier and choose sheltered spots after lunch.

September: our favourite

The sea is at its warmest of the year, the crowds thin out after the first week, and the light turns golden. Sunsets come earlier, which makes a half-day sunset cruise easy to fit into the evening.

October: late summer bonus

Often still warm enough to swim, with very quiet anchorages. Weather can change faster, so keep a flexible day in your plans. Still high-season pricing.

November to March: low season

Fewer sunny days on the water and cooler temperatures, but calm, clear winter days do happen — and prices drop (for example €1,950 instead of €2,200 for a full day on Cienfuegos). A great option for a birthday cruise, a proposal or a company outing with lunch on board.

Morning or afternoon?
