What to Bring on a Private Boat Day in Mallorca

Good news first: on a private charter you don’t need much. Here’s our short list — tested on hundreds of boat days.

Bring

• Swimwear — wear it under your clothes, cabins are small for changing.
• Sunscreen (ideally reef-friendly), sunglasses and a hat. The sun on the water is stronger than on land.
• A light layer — a shirt or thin jacket for the ride back, when the wind feels cooler.
• ID or passport — needed for the charter paperwork.
• Soft bag instead of a hard suitcase — easier to stow.
• Phone in a waterproof pouch for photos in the water.
• Seasickness tablets if you tend to get queasy — take them before departure.

Leave at home

• Shoes with black soles or heels — they mark the deck. Most guests go barefoot on board.
• Glass bottles you bring yourself — broken glass on a boat is dangerous.
• Red wine and dark juices near the white cushions, if you can avoid it.

Already on board

It depends on the yacht, and every yacht page lists it. On Cienfuegos, for example: water, soft drinks, ice, a stand-up paddle board, snorkelling gear, Fusion cockpit speakers and a shaded cockpit.

Food and drinks

You’re welcome to bring your own snacks. Or let us prepare it: the tapas package (tapas, fresh fruit and snacks) and the drinks package (white wine, rosé, beer and soft drinks) cost €25 per person each and are waiting on board when you arrive. Champagne and private catering on request.

Etiquette captains love

• Arrive 10–15 minutes early — the day starts when you board.
• Listen to the short safety briefing: life jackets, ladder, where not to sit while underway.
• Tell the captain about non-swimmers and children before leaving.
• Trust weather calls. If the captain changes the route, it’s for comfort and safety.
• Tipping is not expected but always appreciated if the crew made your day.
