Yacht Charter in Mallorca with Kids: A Parent’s Guide

A private boat is one of the best family days you can have in Mallorca: no crowded beach, shade when you need it, a toilet on board and the freedom to go home early if someone gets tired. Here’s how to plan it so everyone enjoys it — including the parents.

Choose the right boat

• Skippered yachts let both parents focus on the kids. Our Cranchi 41 (up to 9 guests) and Fairline Targa 52 (up to 11) come with captain, shade and a bathroom.
• A cabin helps for naps and changing — Cienfuegos has three.
• A bathing platform with ladder makes getting in and out of the water easy for small swimmers.

Choose the right route

With young children, short crossings are better than long ones. Great family routes from Palma:

• Illetes — calm, shallow sandy areas, 20 minutes out.
• Portals Vells — sheltered, with a cave to explore. More about Portals Vells.
• Malgrats islands — fish to spot for kids who can snorkel.

A half day (about 4 hours) is often perfect for toddlers; school-age kids usually love a full day.

Safety on board

• Tell us ages and sizes of the children when you book, so the right life jackets are ready.
• Children wear life jackets while the boat is moving and near the water.
• Agree on simple rules: no running on deck, sit down while underway, swim only when the captain says the engines are off.
• Tell the captain about non-swimmers before departure.

Sun, food and seasickness

• High-SPF sunscreen, UV shirts and hats — the reflection on the water is strong.
• Snacks and plenty of water; our tapas package (tapas, fruit, snacks, €25 per person) is popular with families.
• Morning trips are usually calmer. If a child tends to get seasick, sit in the middle of the boat, look at the horizon and avoid long crossings.
